FBI Youth Academy
The FBI Youth Academy at Miami Dade College North Campus holds the distinction of being recognized by the FBI as the most Creative Initiative between an FBI Field Division and a local FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association for the year 2009.
The FBI Youth Academy at Miami Dade North Campus has offered nearly 400 scholarships to qualifying high school juniors and seniors. First offered in 2006. The FBI Youth Academy mission is to educate South Florida high school students about the inner workings of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), post secondary opportunities available at the Miami Dade College School of Justice, various professions within other federal and local law enforcement and security agencies. The FBI Youth Academy affords students once in a lifetime opportunity to engage with FBI agents, law enforcement officers, forensic experts, and university professors, for the purpose of fostering academic excellence, leadership sills, team building, and career exploration.
The program consists of 5 days of an intriguing mix of classroom, laboratory, role-playing, practical and presentation style learning. The students also embark on field trips to the U.S. Coast Guard and FBI Miami Division. The week culminates to a Graduation Banquet for graduates and families. Students gain a full awareness of the required education and training for specific careers with the FBI and general law enforcement agencies. Conducted on the 245- acre Miami Dade College North Campus, students are fully immersed in activities that emphasize high school and post-secondary academic requirements for careers in Federal/State law enforcement.
