Reading Is Fun Hour

Reading is fun hour is in its seventh year of sharing the love of reading to eager young minds!
Reading books on virtues, ethics, patriotic history and leadership can encourage our youth to make the right choices and become successful adults and community leaders!
The Reading is Fun Hour is designed to encourage elementary age youngsters to read...PERIOD! Our goal is to pick books that stress and promote positive self-esteem and confidence in kids of all backgrounds.

Reading Program in Miami-Date School District

Both Beth Bailey and Marilynn Vallori are the directors for the FBI –Reading is Fun program.  The two schools participating are North Miami Elementary, and our newer one, Colonial Drive Elementary.  We would like to expand the program and are working with other Alumni to do so.  The team works in conjunction with both the Principals and the Media Specialists to identify a monthly reading.  Typically, this outreach is on Thursdays and last 1-2 hours depending on member participation. For school year 2019, our goal is to increase participation of readers to the program. Studies have shown that reading aloud to young children not only stimulates language and cognitive skills, but also, builds motivation, curiosity and memory. Please join us and be a part of making a difference to a young reader!

1st Graders were so excited for a visit and special book reading with SAC Lasky.

Virtual Speaker's Series: Youth Programing goes Viral

This year the Miami Chapter altered its speaker's format to navigate this unfortunate pandemic. In lieu of our CAAA member’s only speaker's events, we decided to put our energy and emphasis of our speaker’s series into our school systems by facilitating virtual classroom talks and presentations.

Coral Reef Elementary - Miami-Dade County

What a huge success!  The FBI Miami field office became our reading heroes. For two full weeks, up to 5 individuals each day (both Special Agents and Support Staff) took the time from their busy schedules to spend quality time reading to students from Pre-K to 5th grade.

Reaching 100's of Students

Agents and Support Staff read books to over 50 students per day in different classrooms. After each reading session, our guest readers shared with students and answered questions about what they do for the FBI Miami Division.
